Kobo proudly donates to Homebirth Australia

As with most associations, Homebirth Australia is a non-for-profit group who dedicate their lives to help keep home birth aive, and give their support to women and their families to make an unbiased choice for delivery of their new baby.

Every so often there is a government review on maternity sevices, called the Maternity Services Review Report.  There are plans in the upcoming report for a national registration body (July 2010), a necessary registration requirement is Indemnity Insurance.  If private practicing midwives are not assisted with indemnity insurance the option of homebirth will become illegal.  This is not acceptable.  Women will continue to choose homebirth, many after hospital trauma.

Homebirth Australia is launching a campaign in June to bring about awareness to the general public of this matter, as well as stating the facts from many reports outlining the safety of homebirth compared to hospital births.

To assist in their campaign Homebirth Australia were seeking assistance in improving their web presence, to which Kobo responded.  Our short term goal is to get an improved web site out there with a clear statement and good functionality.  We will then fine tune it to leverage the power the web has to offer by bringing forward public awareness to their birth options and rights.  This is also helped by promoting Ricki Lake's documentary on birth.

We are great believers in comfotable and safe birth, and that is why we are proud to donate to HBA for many years to come.
